VDI 3813-1 (Fundamentals of room control) and VDI 3813-2 (Room control functions), published by the German Association of Engineers (VDI), are the worldwide first technical guidelines for electrical and building automation planners with a focus on room control. It complements the established guideline ISO 16484-3 (BACS functions) and allows a function-oriented specification of room control equipment up to Energy Efficiency Class A according to EN 15232. Whereas part 1 provides a common basic understanding of all fundamentals, part 2 defines all specific functions in detail including their impact on energy efficiency. This document also delivers related software tools like automation schemata and function lists.
